Allie looked up at Noah, surprised that someone her age was going through the exact same thing she was. She was feeling as though she was the only person in their mid-twenties on the planet going through a divorce, and suddenly, there was Noah.
"I'm sorry," Allie answered sincerely. Divorces were tough, and even though she assumed Noah's wasn't like Allie's -- where getting out was the best part of the situation -- it still made one feel like a failure, like they didn't know themselves well enough to not end up with someone they couldn't spend the rest of their lives with.
"What happened between you guys?" she asked after a moment, wondering if it was too personal of a question, but also feeling like she'd know Noah for a lot longer than two beers.
