It'd been years since he'd been in Stoneybrook. Four, in fact. Yet everything still looked the same. Tiny and small and .. well, quite frankly, insignificant - at least compared to living in Hollywood for the past four years. Still, it was home.
As he walked downtown, glancing into the small stores that he passed, he was overcome with memories. He'd grown up here, and this place was as familiar and comforting as a pair of well-worn pajamas.
It's probably about time I came back to the 'brook, Price mused, as he passed his favorite music store. As a teen, he'd spent more time - and money - in that store than he could count. Stopping himself before he could get too far past the shop, he tentatively opened the door and grinned as he heard the familiar jingle of the bell. He waved at the shopkeeper - the same man as always - and headed for his favorite section. Rock music.
He browsed for a few moments before realizing that he really ought to be going. He wasn't in much of a hurry, but if he spent much time in the music store, he'd probably spend every cent of money in his pocket - a lesson learned from experience, no doubt.
Directly across from the music store was a wedding dress boutique. It'd been there just as long as the music store, but it was the type of place that Price had always ignored. Now, however, that he was engaged to Dawn, he sort of had to pay attention to wedding stuff. Well, a little. Obviously he wouldn't see her in her dress before the wedding, but he wasn't as indifferent to things like that as he once had been.
Maybe this place has cheap tuxes or something, Price mused, as he crossed the road and stood in front of the store. It was only then that he noticed the girl standing in full wedding attire in the window, turning to the people with her to glean their opinions.
Holy shit, that's not who I think it is! Price drew in a ragged breath and quickly stepped away from her line of vision so that she wouldn't look out and see his loser self staring back at her. It was her, of course. He'd recognize her anywhere. Davina.
All these years later, and he'd almost managed to stop thinking about her for good, and now this. Price quickly turned on his heel and walked away, but not before sneaking a parting glance at her. Still as beautiful as always...
