It was on the tip of Benson's tongue to ask what Brian had gotten her for her last birthday, but he wasn't sure if he should even bring him up right now. He hadn't decided if this impromptu picnic was a mini-intervention to show her what an ass her boyfriend was or if it was...he wasn't sure what. A reminder of how things used to be?
He laughed instead. "It's probably hard not to think about it. I still have to drive by it on my way in and out of Stoneybrook to drive to school every time I go. But I think that it's probably my favorite gift I've ever given."
He got out the sandwiches and handed her one and a bottle of water. "Mad's sandwiches are almost as good as my mom's. Probably some sandwich-making gene kicks in as soon as girls become parents or something. There are cookies in there, too."
