Lavender sipped her tea. After the Veritaserum-based falling out a few months ago, Lavender was glad that she could end the year on such a positive note with her mum. Hyacinth had regrets, they both knew that now, but there was no way of changing any of that, so they had to move forward and put that behind them. Lavender wouldn't ever think of herself as the perfect daughter, but a few years ago she wouldn't have imagined that she'd leave the house easily, let alone live by herself or have a life that made her so happy. The fact that her mother was being so welcoming today was heart-warming.
"Mm." She nodded, setting down her tea cup. "We probably should get going, shouldn't we?" Lavender looked over at her father. "Dad. Dad, wake up."
Duncan blinked blearily from his comfortable chair, lifting up the new book that was lying against his chest so that he could actually see the open page. "I'm not asleep. Just resting."
"Well, you can sleep soon. I think we're going to head off in a minute." Lavender stretched. Hopefully a bit of fresh air would perk her up a bit before she went to meet Anthony's rather more boisterous family. "I don't want to leave without getting to say goodbye to you."
