Okay, this is new. I mean not exactly, I've been to other worlds. Well... just one, a spirit world. But that's not this, and this isn't home, so.

Yeah, this is new.

Anyway, I'm Korra. I've been assigned to the Alpha team as a soldier, and I've got to say I've been in plenty of fights and my fair share of wars, but a formal soldier and military thing's a little different for me. Are there uniforms? ~~I hope not~~

I've got a few other questions... Hold on, I wrote them down earlier:

1. Any other elemental users here? We call them benders back home, but I guess that term won't get me too far here so I'll be more broad. People that can control fire, water, earth and air?

2. I asked already, but hoping that by chance she snuck in... Has anyone run into a woman named Asami? She's gorgeous, you can't miss her.

Here's to introducing myself a little more thoroughly. Is the military here more of a formality, or has it been established because it's frequently needed? I'm also willing to answer as much about myself as I need to to make you feel comfortable working with me.

Where I come from, mages have a connection to the Fade — a world of spirits, essentially — that gives us the ability to do spells. Most of us have a preference for a certain element or two for basic magic on top of whatever else we're good at. I lean toward fire and ice, one of the Councilors prefers lightning, I think Dorian uses fire. We all have specialties, but if we're talking elements, that's that.

	Huh. That's similar enough to my world to be confusing in its differences. I'd love to see what you all can do one day, if time permits. I'm not like an academic or anything, but I've always had an interest in how others use the elements. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	I learned creation magic before it, but there was a Warden mage that was good at energy and force and thought I showed skill, so she taught me. What is an Avatar? Is that like our Mages? Sometimes it's necessary to shoot a fireball at someone's face. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Ah, sorry! An Avatar was created as the result of a human fusing with the light spirit, which resulted in him being able to control all four elements where normally humans were only permitted to hold the ability to master one. Because of our connection with a spiritual force, the Avatar energy is also reborn after its human host dies, so there's always an Avatar in the world and we're always connected to our past lives, so to speak.

Agreed. Or throw a giant rock at 'em.

	In my world, Moroi have control over the elements: fire, earth, water, air, and spirit. I'm Adrian, and I didn't get any of the impressive elements. Nor have I seen any gorgeous women. Well, not true. My girlfriend is here, but no one named Asami. That I know of. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	It's really fascinating that this seems to be a theme in worlds other than my own, but it's comforting in a way. If you ever have time to talk more about these Moroi, I'd love to hear about them. Great, ok. I'm not used to standing on any one side of things, which is what military usually means to me. But I get needing soldiers for protection, so I wanted to clarify things for my own sake.

I'd appreciate it, definitely. I've already noted I have skill with the elements, but that extends into combat skills and, so long as I have access to water, I can provide some basic on site healing for the team as well.

	There's a few factions around here but we're more on the defensive side of things. We're not gearing up for war or looking to bring the fight to anyone. Just trying to keep everyone safe. We've got a lot of heavy hitters on the team but not a lot of range. That's more what you're talking about, right? (Reply to this) (Parent)
