It was fun making smaller clothes. If you don't need them anymore, we'll take them back and use the cloth for something else.

It would be nice to have more children underfoot. But not people who are meant to be adults.

You're one of the seamstresses, yes?

Yes! I'm Annie.

I like your mustache.

Dorian Pavus, recently of Minrathous in Tevinter. My one good cape was destroyed by a dragon and I can't bear the fashion here. I'd sooner walk the halls naked.

As you should. I've been informed it's not nearly as fashionable here as it is in my homeland, but I have little respect for what passes for fashionable here.

As lovely as your mustache is, I don't think it will keep you warm enough.

What kind of fashion do you like?

Ha! No, it won't, I'm afraid.

Why don't I show you what I have, or really what's left of it. The leather is largely intact, nothing that can't be repaired, but the silks caught fire and I'm devastated.

Not that I can only manage with one outfit, but I didn't exactly think to pack a bag.

You would hate living in Thirteen. Everyone had the same grey clothes. I like colors so much better, I'm so glad my grey ones don't fit me anymore.

I'm not sure how much silk we have. We haven't really been using it lately with the cold weather, but I can look. Do you want to bring it by in the morning?

You live in a place named for a number? What on earth for? Sounds dreadful.

I don't only wear silk, where's the fun in that? But I need something other than this stretchy cotton, I don't know what this is trying to be.

All the districts were numbered. I'm from Four originally.

Silk is so pretty. But cotton is really comfortable.

Did they not have names?

We don't have this fabric in my world. I suppose it's comfortable, but where's its shape?

Well, they were all part of Panem.

The stretch is intended to make it more able to fit any shape, I think. Which I appreciate right now, because I've gotten very large.

I would ask you "where", but I expect the answer is "everywhere". Are there things outside Panem, or is it all-encompassing?

On this food? Unlikely.

It was the same continent as this place, once. Only when there was a war, it wasn't nuclear. Then the Capitol took over and the districts were formed.

No, it's because I'm pregnant.

'Nuclear' isn't a descriptor I understand, I'm afraid, though it keeps getting tossed about.

Oh! Well, that changes things. I, however, am not, and I like my clothes tailored.

It means [...] dangerous, destructive, explosive. I don't know exactly how it works, either.

I can help you with that!

Whatever it was, it devastated the land, and some sort of energy is corrupting the living things that aren't immune.

Good! I'd prefer to not go about in sagging plaideweave trousers.

Yes. That's what nuclear bombs do. They explode, and then they keep destroying even after they're gone. It's why, even though Thirteen had them, they never used their nuclear bombs.

I'm sure we can do better than that.

You are lovely. You have my eternal thanks, of course.

I don't know what that is.

I like making pretty things! I miss being able to wear them, too, but it's only a few more months.

The Iron Bull would explain it best, but it's some sort of powder that ignites and explodes. No one has yet been able to replicate it, and the Qunari aren't giving up any secrets any time soon.

Why can't you wear pretty things now? There's no reason not to.

It might be something like that.

I do! But then I outgrow them, and they're not always comfortable. It's alright, though. I've made a lot of really lovely baby clothes.
