Who: Laura and Logan
When: Wednesday morning
Where: Logan's room
What: Laura has a whole lot of new memories to process and wants her daddy.
Warnings: References to and descriptions of torture, past/future character death, angst.
Status: Ongoing

The one advantage to an underground bunker, in Laura’s view, was the vents. They were necessary in a closed facility like this to keep the air from getting stale, albeit with extra measures here to allow radiation spills to be contained, but more importantly for her they created a way around that didn’t rely on the crowded and public corridors. Cramped as hell, yes, but she didn’t mind that so much as long as there was a way out. Like the grate into Logan’s quarters, impassable to most but easily severed from its fastenings with adamantium blades. She dropped almost silently to the floor of the living area, pausing a moment to sniff for his scent before padding into the bedroom and folding herself into the space between mattress and wall. Too many new memories in her head, the ones that had been temporarily forgotten and a whole host of new ones, years of them. She felt overwhelmed and raw, her eyes already red-rimmed and Logan’s familiar scent threatening to set her off again. It was almost like healing from traumatic brain damage - that flood of new information as the tissues reformed enough to process incoming messages, remembering smells and sensations and sounds, and part of her wanted to try to outrun it all, just go and not stop until she injured or exhausted herself too much to keep on, but if she did that she’d leave Logan behind. And that was not an option.

Logan's claws slowly and silently slid out the moment he heard the fastenings to the vent. It was early enough in the morning that he was able to slip out of his sleep easily enough, but being underground always threw things off.

Thankfully, it only took a moment before he knew it was Laura. His nose picked up on that, and claws retracted just as silently as they had slid out. The last few days had been rough on her, he'd checked on her twice but the trigger having sent her more at his throat than into a hug meant he didn't want to cause her any undue stress. But even if she was a kid, there was no way he was going to stab her, even in self-defense.

So he waited. Kept his breathing even, knowing if she was a kid she may not be trained enough to know the difference. The room was still dark and Herc was still asleep in the bed on the other side of the room, partition up between them. Finally, when she didn't attack him and settled in against the wall, Logan opened an eye and turned her direction. "Kid?"

At the sound of his voice Laura shifted slightly, tilting her head against the edge of the bed. It didn't really do much to get more of Logan into her line of sight, but she didn't rely so much on sight as normal humans did anyway, her other senses as sharp as they were. "I grew up again." Not that that would stop him calling her that; he did it to people far older than her, and probably always would. That was alright though.

Her voice was low and subdued, and it felt a little strange to speak again after two days trapped in a time when she had done very little speaking at all. Her throat was still tight, not tight enough to keep the words from coming out, just enough to pinch a bit. "And you died. I remember it." Well. Not the death itself, but everything that happened after it. And before. "There were Purifiers."
