The term 'Titan' surprised Cass. Her eyes widened slightly. She wondered if her shock was obvious or if Mikasa was too wrapped up in memories to notice. In her world, Titan meant something different. Something better, larger than life. She'd never been a member proper, instead always just in the shadows.
But in Mikasa's world the name was associated with horror and death. Mikasa had survived once, then twice, and yet still but her experiences were nothing but pleasant. No wonder why the other teen seemed so somber and serious. Memories could weigh you down, if you let them.
It made sense now why Mikasa was concerned about the strange events that had been happening. She'd found a way to go on, to survive, and possibly fight back. (If you wanted to protect people, you had to fight back.) Had Mikasa been younger and alone... in a strange place without anything familiar...
"I'm sorry," Cass responded. "About your family. And you're right. He's still family."
