Chris Traeger is a perfect storm of emotions. (waytogo) wrote in the100,
Chris was lucky. He could make friends with just about anyone. It was a gift that had always come naturally to him, but that sword carried a double edge: he rarely got close to anyone, either. Of course he felt close to many people, but he wasn’t obtuse. He knew that intimacy was rarely reciprocated -- even off-putting to some. It was why he clung so closely to the few who seemed receptive to his affections. Maybe he’d never find a perfect match, but at least he could surround himself with loved ones who appreciated his level of attachment.
That had been easier to do in Pawnee. In his nearly three months here, he’d already lost two people he considered “best friends.” And he wasn’t dating anyone, so he didn’t have the ups and downs of a romantic life to distract him, nor the prospect of a committed relationship to buoy his spirits. Not that he was exactly eager to fall in love with someone who could disappear at any moment.
But it wasn’t all bad. Right now he had Lito, and that was all he really needed: one person with whom he could forge a real bond, someone he could support and encourage and occasionally shower with affection. At least until one of them ceased to exist in this world.
As the door opened, a grin spread over Chris’s face. “Lito Rodriguez, I am always ready to work!” He went right in for a hug, embracing his friend warmly in greeting. "What's on the agenda today?"
