Wanda liked the library. She knew it was limited in its resources, but she and Pietro had rarely had access to books before. Whatever their parents had had was gone, long ago. (And in truth, she doubted it had been much.) Since then, they'd been on the move so much -- what good were books? Too much weight, too little time to actually read. There had been a few tomes that Pietro had picked up, stealing for her, for a birthday, perhaps. She had treasured those, but their life hadn't been suited well to books, and they had fallen apart or been left when they were in a hurry. (He had stuck more to gifts that could be carried on their persons afterward.)
So, even to her, this library felt vast. So many words. So many thoughts. So much work in a single volume, and yet there were so many. She didn't often read. She just liked to be here. To listen to the quiet, to the sound of pages turning over; she liked the smell of it, a little dustier than the other rooms, but in a way that felt of nostalgia.
She brought a pack of cards with and was flicking through them idly with her power, tinging them with the soft red glow. (She was growing more powerful here. She knew that. She didn't know if the scientists who had lorded over had ever imagined that she would reach the stages she was at now. She just had more things to do. She knew there was a certain irony to that, considering the toys she had been given and the cards she toyed with now.)
