Sirius shoved his face into hands and let out a shout of frustration. He didn't know how else to convince Remus, didn't even understand why Remus was so bloody obstinate about this. Why was his friendship with Peter worth so much more to him than the friendship between the two of them?
"We can't change it!" Sirius insisted. "I can't be like how I was. Not ever again, Remus. Do you understand that? I can't ever let him be close to me again. And you have no idea when he's lying. You've proven that. You've proven that you'll swallow any lie he'll throw at you, so why are you so bloody sure that he's telling you the truth here and now?"
