Meanly, he wondered what, exactly, it was that Katniss had seen in Gale. Other than that it didn't particularly surprise him that Katniss was into this kind of bossy bluntness. Except for that didn't explain Peeta at all. But mostly he wondered why the fuck Gale decided he needed to be here at this moment and why he decided that needed to be the one to save Finnick or whatever it was he was doing.
And he had taken his pillow.
He groaned into the mattress before he could stop himself. And then, also, before he had weighed his words, "I'm pretty sure she doesn't give a fuck what I'm doing because she doesn't know I'm here," which would have sounded a great deal more impressive, except that his voice broke halfway through. His anger rarely was able to sustain itself that long.
He suspected Gale didn't even know what he wanted him to do here. And what was really of interest here? Was this his "second shot at life"? To get trapped in another underground bunker where they never really knew if they were safe -- aware that, somewhere out there, in their world, in a time where he was dead, his wife and son were alright but that he would never get to see them?
