Simon sighed at the question. He was exhausted most of the time, between being kept busy at work and trying to care for River at the same time, particularly when she was resistant. "She's testing boundaries," he said, trying to be tactful. He really did try not to complain or show how exasperated he was, but he was also incredibly easy to read sometimes.
"She wants freedom, and that means giving her independence, letting her run around and get herself lost. I'm apparently a boob for worrying about her." He almost smiled at being called a boob, because even when River was damaged she was still his irritating little sister.
"Other people seem to agree," he went on. "They don't really understand or respect what's been done to her and think I hover too much. She finally agreed to stay in my room. It ... she had a seizure, Inara."
