Inara seemed to withdraw into herself, but only for a moment. As she withdrew, her training kicked in and instead of a sullen, scared woman, she became a porcelain doll, calm, serene even. "You didn't use the words 'hopeless' or 'lost cause,' so I'm going to be optimistic. No sense panicking before we know for sure that no one here can help me."
She ran her eyes slowly across the room. It was so familiar as she remembered the metal hull of Serenity, and yet so foreign. After a while, she spoke again, more quietly. "I am sorry, Simon. I didn't... No one on the ship knew. I didn't single you out. But it had nothing to do with you. I hope you know that."
