"Nice to meet you, Wanda." Nathan rarely had the luxury of sitting down and simply getting to know someone, at home. Either he worked with them or he was helping them or he needed information from them. The people he knew here were somehow a combination of all three, yet none of those were immediate concerns as he was speaking to them, either. Most of the time.
He took a bite of food and swallowed it before answering. "I would've said it's fairly normal, in terms of... civilization," he said. "But I'm learning that there is no real normal around here. It's... about how I imagine this world was, before the nuclear war. I'm from a small town in Maine."
It was easy to make it sound like his world was normal, if he skated around the Troubles. But he'd been more open and honest about those here, and sharing his experiences tended to make others open up to him, so he continued. "I miss Haven. It was... unusual, by my world's standards, but it was home."
