Not directly, but I hadn't given that much thought. "Love" is so freely-used in Asgard. I rarely hesitate to admit that I love my brother, as even despite our fighting, I do. Midgard and humans treat it directly. That small admission tends to come with all this fanfare. I'm sure you've noticed that.
Ah. Well, speaking solely for myself, I would take my chance, figure out the angle and conditions, and then play my hand however I saw fit. Sometimes playing by the rules still gets you banished. Sometimes your downfall is seen as best for the sake of all. Sometimes your foster parents are cruel and even when they give you a place beside them, you're fully within your right to tell them that you're done with their expectations and their impositions and their forcing you to be what they want. TLDR being that when they give you a box to crawl back into, you say no.
