Every crime committed by a person over the age of 18 was punishable by death. Minors were imprisoned until they turned 18, when they would face the Council to determine whether they'd be released or killed. Once we were no longer confined to a space station, many of us were eager to put that behind us because we suffered under that rule, but when it came to the trial we had last year, the accused was guilty of numerous violent crimes against us, including minors. So I understand why it's difficult to set aside the only form of justice you have ever known. We're aiming for something closer to what the United States had before the war, yes.
