WHO. You, Mt. Weather!
WHERE. Two locations; within, bringing charges before Jadis, and without.
WHAT. A trial and a show. You decide which is which.
WHEN. This afternoon.
STATUS. IC/OOC

i. AT THE TRIAL

All the blood went out of Susan's face as son as she stepped from the witness box, her own measured voice presenting a far more together air than she'd felt. This woman, draped in Lion skin, had been the source of fear for her little family, long believed put down but brought to bear again. Susan's jaw should have cracked from the force she laid upon it as the woman swept by her and mounted the stairs.

And she walked sedately into the witness box. Turning, her wand clasped in her hand and that ridiculous iron crown upon her brow, she sat, dripping regality.

"Everything these ridiculous children say - lies. They were buoyed by false hopes from a wild Lion who only (when the time was right) sought to devour them. And the whole land with them. I cannot say much for their sense of truth when it comes to Narnia. But I will address the charges you have so spuriously laid before me." She looked toward the keepers of law. And the gallery.

"First, that I have done due hardship to the people and animals of Mount Weather with my wand. I do not deny that I have removed obstacles from your lasting peace. And I shall not apologize for it. A girl who could kill you with a swipe of the palm, tribes of people who had and would sweep through and lay waste to you with greater violence - everything I have done, everything I do still is meant to bring peace to you all. And then, I shall send you home, as I spoke to Ms. Walker."

Jadis pauses, adjusting the Lion skin upon her shoulder, laying the filigreed gold of her wand upon her knee. The crystal turns beautifully, twisting into an evilly pointed blade.

"What else do you have other than these tired old stories? I have done with you. I --" she rises, meant to descend the stairs and return to her army outside. But she finds she cannot move.

ii. AT THE GATES
" ... you guys. You're seeing this right? I hope you're seeing this." Daisy's voice, over the comms. The feed came in clear, and with a pop of a key she directed it into Command hq.

Before the gates of Mount Weather stood an impossibly large Minotaur, encased in boiled leather, with the horns atop his head reaching a good ten feet beyond his body. Next to him, the seemingly diminutive statue of Marie D'Ancanto. And beyond them, an army full of spite and desire. People native to the world with hags, with vampires and werewolves, with Dwarves and ghouls of all kinds. Sentinels, goblins, trolls, orcs. The Witch had been busy.

"He's talking!" Daisy upped the volume.

"TIME'S UP." The Minotaur bellowed, handling a wicked wooden club. "YOU AIN'T GIVING HER UP AND WE AIN'T LEAVING WITHOUT HER. TOO LONG YOU BEEN THE POWER IN THIS WORLD. IT IS OUR TURN." A pause as the entire crowd cheers the General on. Orcs stamp their feet. Goblins beat their shields. Then, quiet.

"YOU GOT A DAY. THEN WE COME IN TO GET YOU. WE KILL YOU AND TAKE YOUR HOUSE FOR OURS." More cheers. "AND JUST TO SHOW HOW SERIOUS WE ARE --" He turned and in one fluid movement, brought the club to bear on the stone statue. Blow delivered, it fell to rubble.

"DECIDE!" And a chant echoed through the forest. Jadis. Jadis. Jadis. Jadis.

Sandry is sitting in the gallery - she's already woven a net of magic over the witness box that just sits there inactive for any witnesses before Jadis, but once the witch enters she has a piece of thread that she unobtrusively tightens into a knot, binding the net around her.

Laura is probably standing against a wall in the gallery, near Logan but away from Mystique 616 if possible. Those who know her well might notice she seems a bit tired. She hasn't been allowed outside at night and is sleeping badly inside atm (often in air vents or other hidden corners) or just not even bothering and sitting awake in the corner all night, and it's started to wear at her even with her mutant endurance.

Edmund is staying close to Susan (and Lucy, if she's there), except when one of them is testifying. He will try to look supportive of them and the other witnesses.

When it's his turn to testify, he'll identify the wand and how Jadis has used it in the past, since he's one of the few eyewitnesses to her turning someone to stone without actually being a victim himself. He'll explain as much of his history with her as necessary/he's asked about. It will be factual, and he won't avoid anyone's eyes or actively seek them out.

He is absolutely watching Jadis's reaction when she realizes she can't leave the box. He will kick himself later for not watching the dwarf.

Matt (and I'm assuming Jen and Foggy) is helping to facilitate the trial, by asking questions and leading things along. He's aware that it's a trap, but he still wants the proceedings as far as questioning is concerned to be fair.

Erik is at the back of the gallery, listening and waiting for his moment -- and upon receiving his cue he causes the wand to hurtle away from Jadis and across the gallery into his hands. It's a tempting thing to keep, but he'll respectfully return it to Edmund.

Edmund appreciates Matt's efforts. His preference is to continue the trial after the trap is sprung, and not only as a distraction or to buy time. If they were going to kill her out of hand (as tempting as that would have been if they could), they shouldn't have used this method.

He wraps his hand in a corner of Reyna's cloak before accepting the wand from Erik. He doesn't want to touch the thing more than humanly possible, personally, although he does wonder the slightest bit wistfully if it would have any effect against the Witch. He's not happy with himself for wondering, however, and he's not foolish enough to actually try it. He puts it in a box from under his chair, and puts his foot on the box, and he absolutely watches the Witch's reaction to this.

Thor stands at the gates, Mjolnir in hand and in full battle armor (including his winged helm, courtesy of the latest gift drops). He knows, without any fraction of a doubt, that he could easily dispatch this horned beast. It's smaller than tougher foes he has already faced countless times. He isn't intimidated by this army that has been assembled, and he knows full well the skills and talents of those with him are more than a match.

The action of smashing the statue of the young Rogue spurs him to action--

[ooc | Someone in command is going to have to call for him to hold, otherwise letting someone effectively be murdered in front of him is going to make the battle start NOW. And I think we all know it wouldn't end well for the minotaur...]

I'm not sure if Phil has the power, since he's just command admin, but he would tell Thor to hold, or tell command to give the order to hold so they can fully prepare.

Some people, regardless of their position in Mt Weather, still have Thor's respect in military matters. He'd hold if Phil says not to attack yet. Though you can bet he looks very much ready to smash the bullman.

[ooc | also just noticed there's another plot post for this and missed out on it entirely whilst building shelves and playing XBox this weekend -- oops! so the Wolverines can mow this guy down, they're likely to get there faster than Thor anyway. He'll nod approvingly and turn his attention to the giant Sentinels!]

I am not sure if there's a set schedule for military groups as far as who would already be at the gates, etc, buuuut if she wasn't already posted elsewhere and told to stay put, Rose would have hauled ass to the gates as soon as she heard the commotion to see how she could help. But she's with Bravo squad so if they have orders to do something different, that's where she'd be!

And I have a few Fair Weather Friends types who would be wherever they're directed, so basically I'm not sure if any of my people would for sure be at the gates, because it depends on where higher ups directed them to go?

Laura and Logan skedaddle from the trial as soon as they realise what's happening/ed. They've got a minotaur to bring the pain to. :D

Thalia and Maya will be much slower to get there as they have to figure out what the heck is going on and Maya also has to fetch her gear, but they'll come out and join up with Kili and Tauriel for the archery brigade.

TJ is reporting for duty as a scout and doing whatever they think she'd be best at.

Rory and Gaia, likewise, report to medical.

Once word reaches the courtroom that Marie's statue has been destroyed, whether by a general announcement or rumor making its way up through the room, Edmund's face will lose what color it had through the trial. He blames himself almost as much as he blames the Witch and her general.

[ooc - Say the trial is adjourned for the day when the emergency status is announced? If so, that's when Edmund would get his sword. Unless he's ordered elsewhere, he'll sit with it across his lap and participate in discussions by tablet. And probably start talking to/ asking questions of the Witch as unwise as that is and whether or not she acknowledges them.]
