Magic from different worlds interacts strangely here - it's possible one of the wizards or mages would be able to do what your Aslan could. Or it's possible that this is some other magic entirely, which someone here may be capable of undoing. I think you're right, though, that this cannot be chalked up to an extraordinarily nice sculpture left abandoned for no reason. I would ask the dwarves to be certain, but I don't think stonework that fine is even possible without magic.
