It had begun to rain. The barricades were cold and the streets dark, alight only with the torches held by Les Amis. Éponine was on a mission, her mind completely focused on the task at hand. She was there for Marius mostly-- she'd attended some of the meetings, though she generally remained close to the shadows-- but tonight she was there for him. She had delivered the letter as he'd asked and then made her way straight back to the barricade, though she knew he had wanted her to stay away. She couldn't do that, could never do that. |
