Kate hops off the barstool and makes her way back toward her dressing room, smiling and stopping to greet and make small talk with customers on the way. There can't be any job better than this one, she thinks to herself upon reaching the backstage area and her dressing room.
After closing the door, Kate takes her time refreshing her makeup and checking her hair. She grabs her favorite black evening gown from the small closet and slips it on. Then checking her appearance one last time in the large mirror, she dabs on a bit of her favorite perfume, slides on the long black gloves and heads to the stage.
At what is supposed to be the end of her set, she turns back to the band and whispers something unintelligible to the audience. A couple of quick nods later, Kate turns with a smile to the audience and says, "This last song is a special request," and the band plays the beginning notes of It Had To Be You.
