Albus sat on his bed in the dormitory that should have been his. He had his journal opened before him, in which he had been having a nice conversation with a Ravenclaw until his sister decided to show up. He sighed, glancing around the currently empty room. Albus had been back at school for a total of two days, and he was already breaking the rules. He knew that he should be pretending to be a good boy, especially since he had blatantly insulted one of the greatest witches of the age, but he doubted that he would ever get another chance to see his grandparents. Although he hated to admit it, Lily was right. It was pretty 'fab' to be seeing people who were supposed to be dead.
Shutting his journal, Albus placed it in the drawer of the stand next to his new bed. He would have to write to shops in Diagon Alley to see about getting some robes and school books, but he would worry about that later. He locked the drawer next to his bed with a wave of his wand, and then left the dormitory. He heard the general rowdiness of a back to school crowd coming from the common room, and he hoped it would be enough to cloak his presence. He had no desire to be stared at; he had enough of that in his own world.
When Albus entered the common room, he looked around to see if he could see his sister. Not being able to through the mess, he chose a chair in a distant shadowy corner and waited. He quietly debated the many difficulties in leaving the school, and he wondered if any of the secret passages still worked that had been on the Marauders Map. The one leading into the Shrieking Shack could be especially useful, if he could quiet the Whomping Willow to get inside.
