Rosie gave a sad chuckle and a small shrug, "I apologize for everything I do by force of habit," she excused herself, biting back another 'I'm sorry.' She knew that the light pressure of an attempted squeeze of her hand took effort. She gave Rose and appreciative smile.
In the time it took for the interaction between her best friend and her cousin, she had successfully forced herself into not crying, but her face was still a blotchy red and her eyes a bit puffy. Rose nodded, smiling the best smile she could manage at the legos, "Penguins are your favorite. That's really thoughtful of you, Louis." She looked up at her cousin, trying to hide it from Rose, but attempting to give him another smile, pleading with her eyes for him to forgive her for her rude non-greeting.
