Beating hearts accelerated; it wasn’t like the sharp jolt of his spider-sense kicking into gear, but substantial enough to make deep breaths necessary as he found his eyes locked on a pair of eyes in front of him. A pair of eyes that, the last time he looked into them, over five years ago, we’re void of life. But now, there they were. Bright, blue and blinking right back at him. It was enough for them to find themselves in a brief stand-off. But the longer the moment lingered, the longer those eyes were allowed to scan, a sense of familiarity began to creep back in, and Peter almost began to feel himself being pulled toward Gwen.
Actually, that’s exactly what he was feeling. There was a slight forward pull on Gwen’s part, but before long, limbs found themselves vining around each other in an embrace as natural as breathing. Easy at first, but after a moment, once Peter gathered his bearings, he’d allow his eyelids to drop to a close, and the grip he applied to the hug would tighten ever so slightly. Her name would even escape his lips in a soft whisper before the hood was released. Pulling back and opening his eyes to find hers again as she spoke.
“Yeah, I’m gonna say you’re right about that. To say it’s good to see you might be the biggest understatement I’ll ever make…”
Peter managed a sly smile, even while feeling as though he was still catching his breath. The two of them could have stayed right here, standing i front of each other for hours and the body language would speak multitudes. But rather than risk prolonged awkwardness, Peter would simply offer an extended arm, perfectly bent at the elbow to allow space for hers to hook around it.
“Shall we explore the cruise ship?”
