Coherent thought was overrated. Hands, lips, the soft and smooth of skin, the lazy sweep of fingers, and heat pooling between them were far more worthwhile endeavors. Some people had faith or legends or superstitions, and James? James had Venus and Bacchus and a slew of other myths that suited him just fine. Myths were far finer things, he believed. They were tricky and messy, but if you just let go and went with them, they were exceptionally entertaining. And that was all that they were doing: entertaining themselves. Or distracting themselves. Or maybe James was apologizing, he certainly had been before. Or maybe she was- ugh. Completely overrated. James didn't so much push his thoughts away as he let them drift beneath the next steady wave of sensation as his touch moved to skim his fingers up her spine, under the soft layer of her shirt.
Oddly enough, Jame didn't really speak. These days, with the girls he met or picked up or who picked him up, they were always talking. He wrote it off to the brief period of time they'd be spending together, thus trying to get to know each other as much as possible while their bodies were getting to know other's. This, however, was very different altogether. There was no teasing, not chatting, no flirting - just smoldering kissed and soft touches. He didn't think much about it. Variety was something James valued, and that seemed a valid enough excuse.
He barely paused at all to pull his glasses off, not bothering to turn his gaze when he dropped them... somewhere behind him. At least it sounded like they landed on the bedside table. They were charmed pretty well, they could take something of a beating. When his hand returned to her body, it ghosted down her hip to the back of her thigh to pull her knee a little way across his lap. It was a gesture more of habit than intent, one he didn't bother pondering over in terms of whether or not it would be too suggestive. James just happened to like a lot of contact, and it seemed as though Amarissa was amenable enough to his physical suggestions thus far.
