His blue eyes were suddenly fixated on hers. It seemed as if an overwhelming amount of emotions were still working their way through James, a myriad of thoughts crossing over his brain, each one conflicting and compounding upon the others. Merlin, this had become entirely too complicated. Time and time again she found herself realizing that she had simply become far too involved with what was going on here. She didn't know how to remedy it any longer. Here were the problems that no amount of Auror training could fully prepare her for. No training manual or class could write out explicitly what she was going through and tell her precisely what the right answer was. She wasn't even sure if there was a correct answer any longer, and it made her feel distinctly off balance.
That sensation only grew. Amarissa wasn't entirely sure what James was going to say. They were so many things that the should not do, but he didn't complete his sentence. And then he was much closer. Some time his hand had slipped away from her side and there was one enclosing the nape of her neck. His touch guided her a bit, and she could feel the slight pressure from the tips of his fingers. She leaned in closer to the bed, letting herself sink lower.
It was comfortable, and easy, and like the first time, Amarissa couldn't drum any will to actually try and fight it. She kissed him in return, lips working deftly against James'. Her fingertips paused just over his ear, remaining still for the scarcest of moments, before merely tracing one finger through his hair, following the curve of the upper part of his ear.
It was entirely possible, she knew, that he was merely avoiding the subject that they had so hesitantly broached. It was probably going to take them some time to be able to fully discuss what had happened in Spain while being honest and without rising tempers. There were certain parts that they were sure to disagree about. There were some things that perhaps James couldn't forgive her for. None of what had happened could be changed either. The repercussions of it had caused Amarissa to see a need for some future altercations, but that wouldn't alter what James had witnessed and experienced.
