Characters: Roger Davies and Hermione Granger Timeline used: fairly consistent with game history
The holidays had been hectic. He'd spent them with his family, living Muggle-style for two weeks solid. It wasn't that he hadn't ever done it; he'd hidden out through the war after all. It was simply that now that he lived as a Wizard again, he wanted to enjoy it. That and he missed everyone on his quidditch team.
At practice that morning, his thoughts went to his last game before the holidays. It had been a fantastic match. Of course, it had startled him to realize part of what had been nice was knowing he had a fan in the crowd. Oh, he had plenty of proper fans, but it had meant something different to know Hermione was in the stands.
He decided to contact her. They'd had a lovely conversation on a less than pleasant topic. And while he wasn't sure he wanted to continue the conversation from then, he wondered what it would be like to have a conversation with her on a neutral topic.
He sat at his desk, quill in hand and a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Dear Hermione Granger,
I enjoyed your company when we met at the Leaky Cauldron. Would you be interested in perhaps a less volatile conversation?
Roger Davies
He sent the letter off and headed off to Diagon Alley for some shopping.
