Daily Prophet Afternoon Edition
In a stunning revelation, the Prophet discovered the reason behind the extreme quiet surrounding Alexis Garrett's hospitalization. It seems as though the Head of the Re-Integration Committee has hazy recollections of the past year after an Imperius curse was found on her and removed. The Ministry has not given a statement regarding this new information. However, we at the Prophet have found that there is now an internal investigation regarding the policy of Integration as well as Ms Garrett's closest aids.
Does this foretell the end of Integration? What has happened if Integrationists are using Unforgivables? We at the Prophet will continue to try to answer these and other pressing matters.
Okay, I tried to keep my mouth shut about this, I really did, but come on - Ginny Weasley? Hauled off by Aurors and tucked away without public process like something worse than a criminal? DEATH EATERS were given better treatment! Let me say that again, Death Eaters, who tortured and killed people were given more allowance of due process than an innocent young woman who has been commended for her contributions to protecting wizarding society. I'm not saying play favorites, I'm saying that as far as poor legal form goes, everyone ought to be treated at the very least as well as Death Eaters were.
And this, all this, over thoughts? Over beliefs? The Ministry shouldn't be able to punish us because of what we think - and I say we because it applies to everyone. Ginny Weasley is a war hero, and this is how she's treated. What happens when it's us? When it's someone too old or too young to have been involved in the wars, or those of us who don't have the popularity to have our absence noticed by the Prophet? Are Aurors going to come for us in the middle of the night, wands drawn? We are not so far removed from a time when we had to fear what went on in the night. We've been here before, when expressing a certain point of a view was stifled for fear of retribution. Integration isn't a push forward, it's just running us into the same old circles.
With great, overwhelming annoyance,
James P.
