He gave a chuckle at the idea of Mrs. Black's return. Her howling voice was something he was easily able to identify. Though he'd never had the displeasure of meeting the woman, it wasn't something he suspected he'd enjoy.
James ignored the comment about Lily. It was a hope he dare not even think for fear that if his mind closed too tightly around the thought it would slip through his fingers like mist. Instead he focused on thoughts of Harry. It was fortifying, to think that in some small way he'd been able to have a presence in his son's life. Perhaps he'd see about meeting him tomorrow, if his schedule was free. Probably best to talk that over with Sirius first, though. For the first time in a few days his mood was starting to lift, and dwelling on thoughts of Lily with some girl he barely knew was hardly good for keeping that momentum, so he changed directions.
"Your mum's alive though, and now you can see her whenever you want," he said with a shrug. There was something odd to that. Why room with your cousin and his mates when your mum was all on her own? "In fact, I'd have figured you'd be bunkering down with her - not that it's not cool with you here, I mean I'm sure I'd be starving without your intervention."
With that, and a smirk, he procured another piece of pizza. His last piece of pizza, he insisted to himself.
