James checked his pocket-watch as he made his way down the street. He was only a few minutes early, nothing outrageous, he concluded as he replaced the timepiece in the breast pocket of his maroon velvet jacket. If anyone he'd passed on the street thought it was an odd pairing with his jeans and white button down, no one's gaze seemed to linger overly long. Although he would have liked to have Lily with him, work was work, he supposed. Perhaps it'd be better this way, he reckoned, recalling how nervous Lily had been when he'd taken her to meet his parents. Merlin, he couldn't help but laugh at the memory of it. As it was he didn't bother to suppress his grin as he knocked on the door of his son's home.
Even as she smiled she couldn't help but bite her lower lip just a bit. In the midst of moving in Harry had adopted something of a ravenous appetite for books. It was a pleasant new practice they'd slipped into sometimes after dinner, him reading as she poured over articles, her enchanted quill darting over parchment to correct and comment on submissions for the magazine.
"Just pop them in Her-" she began, interrupted by the knock on the door. It was something of a strange thing. Apart from Ginny and Harry, Luna had few visitors, especially unannounced. "You expecting someone?" she asked, glancing toward the door.
With the knock on the door, Harry's eyes grew wide. "What day is it?" he asked without answering her question... thinking for just a moment, he realized that he'd arranged to have his Dad come over and visit today. "Um... I think I did something bad..." came his sheepish confession. "I forgot to tell you my Dad is coming over. I'm really sorry." he said quickly, setting the books down on the back of the sofa as he stepped towards the front door to open it. As he did, he saw the smiling James standing there. "Hey, Dad... come in." he said, slipping to the side to admit him.
"Harry," James all but beamed in greeting, stepping inside.
Glancing around, he couldn't help but note the stark difference between Harry's place and the place he was living now. Though Sirius had certainly changed the... well, the entire feel of number 12 Grimmauld Place, it still smacked of colour and detail that seemed to contrast with the classic look of Harry's home despite the similarities in architectural style. Well, not everyone could live in the Gryffindor paradise Sirius had set out to construct.
"Nice place," he approved. There was a girl standing within view, looking rather surprised. At that, he couldn't help but lift his brow. "Am I interrupting anything?"
