Draco's lip quirked slightly at her as she began. She really was a bright witch. Such a pity she was born a Weasley. Her bright and ready mind would be an asset to any cause to which she devoted herself. He wondered briefly how well the Order would have utilized her had she been older.
The thought led him to remember that Potter hadn't taken her with him. She'd been under age at the time, and he felt a form of relief. Potter may not have known what he had, but Draco was not going to underestimate her. That she was a Weasley actually only aided his cause. A Weasley who showed reason and logic could only help their cause.
"That has crossed my mind, yes. You, and others like you, which includes Luna Lovegood, if I'm not mistaken, can do far more for our cause by being open than I could. Though I'm sure you realized that my dancing with Granger at the gala was a deliberate move to show I did not find her touch repulsive."
He refrained from chuckling at her admission of hypocrisy. She hadn't argued overly much when he'd requested robes for the manor. She even admitted it openly just now, though he was at least partially convinced she was arguing the point with him. It was fine with him. He wanted discussion.
"Therein lies part of our problem. How do we promote wizarding culture, and wizard wear without appearing completely elitist? I have no intention of altering my views to full egalitarianism," he inclined his head, "As I am sure you are aware, but I have a need to separate myself from this," he motioned vaguely toward his left arm.
"Therefore, yes, I believe you should wear robes more frequently, but I am not foolish enough to believe that my conservatism is overly welcome in this climate. What I am proposing is this. In helping the cause, you would, of course, be helping my own public image. For that, I am prepared to aid you, the most obvious being any legal aid should you need it. Though you may have other needs of which I am not aware."
He stopped there. He needed to make sure it was an even exchange, and currently, it was anything but.
