Draco smiled at her. Daphne always managed to appear well put together. He kissed her on the cheek. "Hello, Daphne. Thank you for coming."
He held her hand and motioned to the small table. Tibby had arranged a bowl of fruit as well as a tray of scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserves. On the desk against the wall, a full tea service appeared.
Draco nodded to Daphne and moved to pour tea for them. Normally, he'd have expected her to, but today, he was preoccupied and the motion aided his focus.
"I'm sorry that I had to be the bearer of bad tidings in regards to Blaise. I have not heard from your sister. I can only hope she did not take the news too poorly. I am sure he won't be detained overly long." He held out the cup and saucer for her.
Blaise's arrest and subsequent detention was indeed causing Draco distress. Blaise should have been released by now. The current political climate was becoming far more dangerous than he wanted to believe. Certainly far more insidious than he had at first believed. Allies would be exceptionally valuable, and Daphne was that.
