Characters: Draco and Lucius Malfoy Date: Monday 1 September 2001 Time: early morning Location: Malfoy Manor
Draco had risen early to meet with Lucius. What he had to tell him wasn't particularly horrible, not after a week's worth of thinking about it. Perhaps the extra time that had been needed was perfect. It had given Draco the ability to think on things far more coherently than he'd been. After his conversation with Weasley, Seeker and Morrigan hadn't contacted each other at all. The silence was likely healthy for them both.
However, that still left him almost needing to hear that he was on the right path. Hearing that from a Death Eater wasn't his idea of praise, but in this particular case, said Death Eater was the man who had become his father. A man who had claimed, even recently, that his first thought was his family and protecting them. While Draco had come to doubt that after the return of the madman, he thought such fresh idealism might aid him now.
They'd agreed to meet early in the morning, less chance of Narcissa waking and either looking for Lucius or returning to the Manor. To that end, Draco had a proper English breakfast prepared for the meeting as he hoped it would encourage more casual conversation. Tibby had been ordered to set it up on the veranda so that there would be no "head" of the table to make things more awkward. In fact, Draco realized this had been the most considerate he'd ever imagined being, actively that is. Even more so than how he took care of his mother. Though it wasn't out of malice or cruelty, simply a lack of being sure how to approach things. These were easy and fairly straightforward.
Dressed simply in trousers and a shirt, he waited for his guest. His lack of robes another indicator of how informal he wanted this to appear. Draco rarely went without them, even in the comfort of his own home unless he was truly feeling free. He hoped it would inspire him as much as convey the image he wanted Lucius to have.
