Evening chatter Date: Wednesday, August 20 2001 Time: Night Location: 12 Grimmauld Place Characters: James and Lily Potter
In those first few weeks in Sirius' childhood home, James never would have believed how... at home he could feel there. Sure, part of it was the long overdue redecoration - the way the word 'Marauders' scrolled along the wall that led upstairs made James feel that if ever they were to have a clubhouse, this would be it. Not that he didn't miss their home in Godric's Hollow, but after that one visit to the place... well, suffice to say James was much more comfortable with the idea of living at Grimmauld Place. Walking back from the bathroom to the bedroom he shared with Lily, he shook his head as he laughed at the thought. James never had cared for going backwards, anyway. Clad only in his pajama bottoms, hair still damp from the shower, James stepped inside and closed the door behind him.
It never ceased to amuse him, how much more habitually tidy he was with Lily around. Not that he was spotless, but at least living with her curbed his inclination to mound up piles of discarded clothes and precarious towers of stacked books. This was something of an extension of her influence over him, being around her made he want to do things better - even if early on it had reduced him to what felt like walking around with his foot perpetually in his mouth.
"And how's my favorite bartender?" he smiled, flopping pleasantly onto the bed.
