As soon as she turned the next corner behind whatever building they were near, Tonks stopped and waited. She heard the clank fo Narcissa's shoes against the stones and her heart beat with an odd sense of excitement. She had her wand drawn in the ready. There was no telling how this Narcissa was going to react, she wasn't sure what side of the war she had ended up on.
Taking short, sharp breathes her eyes rested purely on the corner. It wouldn't be too long. Again her hair changed, this time a bright red the purest reflection of the nervousness and aggravation that pulsed through her. The few short moments seemed to last forever and her blood burned as it crept through her veins. This was it. This was an encounter she never wished to have but it was going to happen.
The thought that Narcissa might turn her into the Ministry passed through her mind, though Regulus was living at the Malfoys'. They had to know that some of the dead were back. Maybe her mother had spoken to Narcissa recently and that's the only reason for the pursuit. Maybe they were on good terms and Narcissa wanted to reconcile with her long lost niece. Tonks may have been a Hufflepuff in school but she wasn't so hopelessly hopeful for family reunions.
