When it came to reading, Sirius had always been erratic. He rarely picked up books for pleasure, but when he needed to know something he tore through them at a rapid pace. On the whole he disliked newspapers - preferring to hear his news from others - especially after the months of not only bad news but devastating news that brought death after death to their attention.
As James read Sirius was leaning over what appeared to be, and was, a large dirty piece of metal. He kept his eyes on the motorbike engine, attempting to wedge a screwdriver into the middle of it. Finally as James sighed Sirius gave a huff of failure and leaned back.
"Can't they think of anything new?" Sirius asked, wiping his forehead of sweat and replacing it with grease "it can't even be real Death Eaters...they don't draw on buildings." The Dark Mark was usually found over bodies, or scenes of destruction, not used as common graffiti. Sirius remembered it lingering over the house at Godric's Hollow with a vaguely sick feeling.
Seizing his wand, he said "everyone's become relaxed, they're taking advantage of a clear path..." He looked down at the engine, then thinking twice pointing it towards James, transfiguring his newspaper into a phoenix that flew smoothly across the table.
