The Daily Prophet has just learned that Interpol has taken Muggle Chancellor James Gordon Brown into custody for the murder of Wizard Jean Burlase, the late husband of local philanthropist Michalea Zabini. Mr. Burlase was killed near the Chancellor Brown was apprehended for questioning after a visitor to his session home as part of the Parliament Tour of Homes noticed a new edition to the public art gallery. The painting that disappeared from the Burlase home the night of the murder was displayed along one of the side walls.
Questioning of the Chancellor lead officials to the home of Mr. Keith Young, the aide present with the Chancellor the night of the Charity Gala. When the man refused to answer the door, officers stormed into his home only to find that he'd shot himself. A letter found nearby stated that he didn't remember much about the evening other than the Chancellor requesting his company as they went into the private gallery. He vaguely remembered the murder weapon flying through the air but couldn't say for sure whether he or the Chancellor had committed the act.
When asked about the note left by Mr. Young, Chancellor Brown would offer no further comment without his attorney. The Prophet will keep you posted with new developments on this case as they become available.
Neither Michalea Zabini nor her son, Blaise Zabini, were available for comment at the time of press.
