their last night
It had lulled her into a familiar comfort, spending so much time with him lately. However, she hadn't expected it to continue exactly the same - well, she hadn't really known that she'd expected, but she had known that eventually he'd go off and find a job, and that their habits would likely change around that. "Oh?" she smiled softly, enjoying their close proximity. "Then you should find something you really enjoy, so it wont be so bad when you're away." She supposed it could have sounded teasing, but she did mean it.
He smiled and nodded. "Yeah... suppose so. I'm just not sure what that is, really. I mean...I've never found anything but quidditch that I've truly loved." he said as they stepped out of the elevator and approached the matre'd. As they were shown their table, one with a breathtaking view of the city, lit up beautifully. "This is incredible." he whispered to her as he pulled out her chair for her, beating the matre'd to it.
Luna took her seat almost distractedly, in pleasant awe of the view. "It's perfect," she breathed. It no longer came as a surprise, Harry's consistent gentlemanly behaviour; instead it had grown into comforting rhythm of letting him open doors for her, or pull out chairs for her. Settling her gaze back on him she gave him an optimistic shrug. "Well if you weren't interested in playing, you could always try commentating," she mentioned with a wry smile. "It's not nearly as hard as some people seemed to think."
He took his own seat, and smiling across the table at her, raised an eyebrow. "Commentating, hmm?" he asked, pondering it as he unfurled his napkin and lay it across his lap. "You mean like writing about it, or doing the announcing at games like Lee Jordan used to do?"
Slipping her own napkin into her lap, she considered for a moment. "You know, I don't think I've ever seen any of your writing," she mused. Realizing she might be straying from the topic, she added, "But you're a lovely speaker, I think you'd make a fine announcer." Back in school, she'd always supported Gryffindor unless they were playing Ravenclaw, and truthfully, Harry was one of the best Seekers she'd ever seen. "Though I think if you wanted to play professionally, you'd certainly have a shot," she conceded with a proud sort of smile.
He gave her a half smile as he blushed. "You think so? I mean, I suppose since all the war mess I've never considered doing something I really enjoy with my life." he chewed on the inside of his cheek, opening his menu. "I mean... I suppose I never considered playing because it just doesn't seem like a real career... getting to play quidditch and get paid for it?" he asked with a smile. "I... think maybe I could get into it."
It was very sweet when Harry blushed. Only a moment's glance was needed to know that she wanted the duck special of the evening. "Well it's not all snitches and droves of female fans," she teased. "Though I don't suppose quidditch training could be more taxing than Auror training - and it's always easier when you're doing something you love. You know, every once in a while you looked more comfortable up on that broom than with your feet on the ground." Part of Luna had marveled that he hadn't really considered it before, especially when he was so brilliant when he was in school.
"Well, yeah, suppose so. I mean, I guess I could talk it over with Ginny, couldn't I? See what's involved for trying out. And... well, I know it's hard work. I never shied away from hard work, it's all the political bollucks that I always hated about being an auror." he nodded, setting his menu aside as he decided on the duck special as well. When the matre'd came, he ordered a bottle of champagne, but was a bit fumbling in doing so. He knew less than nothing about such things, but he was a man who knew what he wanted. "To celebrate." he said as he turned back to Luna with a smile.
