"I'll take the kiss, but I'm not so sure about getting in the water." Hermione glanced longingly toward the chair she had vacated and the book that was resting on it. She much preferred sitting in the sun to getting wet. At least then there wasn't the risk of getting covered in sand later. Sand was messy enough as it was.
She waited to see if Ron was going to stand and join her or if he really expected her to get into the water with him. It was a few seconds later that she realized how stiff she was being. Ron had brought her to the beach expecting to have fun and here she was, worrying about getting dirty and not wanting to experience any spontaneity whatsoever.
Therefore, it was with a little trepidation that she walked closer to where Ron was and slowly lowered herself into the water, feeling the coolness rush over her. "This better be a good kiss," Hermione said with a hint of mocking in her voice.
