[Backdated to Sat June 21] Who: Ron and Hermione What: A day trip to a surprise location When: Noonish, June 21, Saturday Where: The Whitefriar Flat, then the beach
He had waited for her in the living room, summer robes on, and his own small bundle tucked into his book bag. He didn't have a clever little purse like Hermione's, to stash a ton of stuff and he thought about if he should make one as he idly waited for her to come out. He had a plan for the day; somewhere he and the fellows had apparated to a few weeks before.
It had worked like this: Jones in the office had been bragging about the best vacation spot he had ever been to. It had become a challenge among them to swap locations. Since you had to have a vision in your mind where to apparate to exactly, they had decided to take the whole bunch to different spots. They never stayed very long, maybe a half hour to an hour at most, and it was really to get the lay of the land more so that each of them could return. It was a brilliant idea, Ron had thought. He had taken them to Egypt, since he had been there. Jones had shown them the island retreat. Kennan had taken them to the states, to a brilliant park, and Maddox had taken them to this spot in Spain. They were all eager now, to find other places to go. Ron was especially excited to share these new findings with his friends, if he ever saw them. Hermione had been too distracted and upset of late. When she had asked him to cheer her up, his first thought had been to take her away somewhere, far away.
So, he had grabbed a few things, after tossing the room looking for them, and had been first to enter the living room. He slumped into a chair and waited. He had figured if they left at noon here, it would be morning when they got there. That was one thing they had noticed at the office. It was important to watch what time you left, so you knew what time it was going to be there when you showed up. He hoped she liked the idea. As he sat, he wondered where Harry was. It was the weekend, and usually he would pop around, from his remote location.
Ron thought about that, as he waited for Hermione to appear, ready to go. Why in the hell they had put Harry so far away, Ron was not sure. It was starting to seem a bit unfair. Harry hadn't made it to the Gala; he was barely making it home on the weekends. Ron wondered if they ought to ditch their trip and go visit him where he was working; maybe Harry needed a bit of cheering up, he thought. Lost in his ponderings, he looked up when he thought he heard her steps in the hall.
