She stood by the door, separate from a growing line of people who wanted entrance into the exclusive place. Getting into the club was practically impossible; Pansy had talked about it with a couple of new models she had met at her last shoot for Wizards Q, a new wizards magazine that targeted the Quidditch-playing wizards and fashion. She had liked those shots of her on the broom, wearing little but a piece or two of some new Quidditch gear, she mused as she started to feel uncomfortable.
She didn't know how long to wait; she wasn't even sure that anyone was going to come after the Gala event. She realized that it looked bad, for her to be lingering outside of the club entrance, so she moved forward and handed the doorman her pass. She gave him the name of the other people she hoped would be coming and watched him carefully, making sure he got their names correctly; she did not want them blocked at the door.
As she moved inside, the owner met her, and began to fawn over her, "Right this way, Miss Parks. I have a special booth for you and your friends. Oh, they are running late? I am so sorry. We will show them in as soon as they arrive. Can we get one picture, to put in the paper? Yes? Thank you."
Pansy posed, and then watched as he moved off, the photographer at hand and another waiter brought a tub with a cold bottle of champagne. She wasn't sure she wanted the bubbly stuff, but she watched as he poured, using no hands and floated the glass to her instead. Wizarding staff, Pansy thought, interesting.
Pansy sipped the drink, and sat back, trying not to frown as her mind went over the variables in her life. The Gala had been a spectacular mess, she thought. It was coming out, Niki Parks, model, was really a witch, and that was good for business in the Wizarding world. That was how she had given these exclusive passes. Muggles had no clue about it yet; she was still Niki Parks, Muggle, as far as they knew.
She paused, lost in her thoughts, and waited to see if her friends were still really that, her friends.
