Well Known Philanthropist’s Husband Murdered While Building Bridges to Integration
by Filomena Frampton
Jean Burlase, husband of Michalea Zabini was brutally murdered when the couple opened their home in an attempt to raise money to support the youth of both our worlds. Not only was Mr. Burlase murdered, but his prize piece of artwork was missing from the home. Authorities believe the murderer used the service hallway just outside the private gallery to transport the painting away from the home. The crimes occurred near the end of scheduled events during the time frame when Mrs. Zabini was busy thanking their guests for their attendance and generous offers.
French auror’s suspecting Muggle involvement, due to the non-magical nature of the attack, have turned the investigation over to Interpol. This reporter has learned that Mr. Burlase was last seen entering his private Gallery with his step-son Blaise Zabini, Muggle Chancellor James Gordon Brown, and Brown’s aide Keith Young. Aurors did not release Mr. Zabini’s name to Interpol as Mr. Draco Malfoy stated that the young wizard was in the Wizard’s Lounge at the time of the murder. This alibi was substantiated by Miss Pansy Parkinson who told this reporter, “I noticed Blaise approach his date Astoria Greengrass. He seemed to be quite infatuated with the girl, and barely noticed the others in the room. She was practically draped across him as they left together.”
At this time, Chancellor Brown has been fully cooperative with all questioning. His aide, Mr. Young, has not come forward.
Can We Survive Integration
by: Carol Crombie
This past weekend a prominent member of our society invited Muggles into her home only to have them murder her beloved husband. Michalea Zabini has been faced with tragedy after tragedy and has always come out with a smile on her face and a new cause to support.
While many other Purebloods have been questioning whether integration can work, Mrs. Zabini put months of preparation into an event meant not only to support youth, but to begin the inner workings of brotherhood between our worlds. Even amongst ridicule, she was able to get those most likely to question integration due to their familial ties to graciously agree to attend the event.
There was some talk among skeptics that the event would garner activity similar to events seen sporadically during the hiatus of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Yet, no one could have imagined that the night would end with such horror.
Mr. Burlase’s murder has been the first to touch our world since the end of the war. Even with our differences, Wizard’s have come to understand and even give the pretense of mutual respect. But how can we now with a blind eye turn away as our Ministry continues to strive for integration even in the shadow of such blatant disrespect?
