Throughout the entire exchange, Hermione had been slowly turning a bright shade of red. Malfoy was right, if Ron had acted violently he could have been charged with assault. And where would that have gone? Straight to her department at the Ministry. Hermione could just imagine her peers at the office laughing at her behind her back because her boyfriend had gotten in trouble for hitting someone.
She was very thankful when Ron finally left to grab butterbeers. Malfoy was on the edge of doing something rash, Hermione could tell. She really did not understand the need to cause conflict when things were just settling down. They were adults now and should be acting as such.
When Ginny left to find a table, Hermione followed, not giving Malfoy a second glance. He seemed rather angry as it was. As soon as they had taken their seats, Hermione spoke up. "I can't believe Ron did that! He was acting like a five year old. It's bad enough we had to deal with Malfoy in school, but to approach him now? I thought that was all behind us." Now Hermione's face was red with anger.
