The dark wood of the table was almost obscured by screwed up parchment, covered in unwanted words and frustrated blotches of ink.
Sirius gave a groan of impatience, hurling yet another ball of parchment towards a painting on the wall. That certainly won't help the portrait told him stiffly, earning a look of pure venom from Sirius. James had asked him to contact Harry, and he would. It was his duty; as a friend, brother, Godfather. Unfortunately telling someone that their dead father was currently snoring his head off in his bed wasn't in Sirius' repertoire of correspondence.
Dear Harry,
I hope work is going well, and they aren't working you too hard. I don't know if you've heard anything from the Ministry about what's been happening, but you likely know by now that my cousin Nymphadora Tonks is living with us. She's the third person we know of that's returned from the dead.
The thing is Harry, Remus and I had a message from McGonagal to get to Hogwarts. James, your dad, he'd turned up there. He's living here at Grimmauld Place. His last memory is of you being born, and he really wants to see you.
You can come and see him as soon as you like. Please be understanding Harry, adjusting to living in 2001 is difficult for all of us, and it'll be as hard for James as it is for you.
Hope to see you soon,
Sirius.
He signed the letter off with his almost illegible signature, and muttered a spell to dry the ink and fold the parchment before he could decide against this one. There was never going to be an easy way to tell Harry.
Sirius tucked the letter into his pocket, and grabbed his jacket. They didn't have an owl, and it would be easier to simply deliver it himself.
