Lucius was grateful for the silence, and the opportunity to regain his former composure. He smoothed the crisp edges at the cuffs of his robes, a soothing but deliberate action.
"I suppose losses may be expected in the progress of years," he mused, thinking to offer his sympathies to Regulus, who had only recently learned of the deaths of his family "but still it is difficult. My own father has been dead for some years now."
Lucius reached out a pale hand, fingertips touching Regulus' shoulder "I was saddened to hear of your own losses, my sympathies." Of course this was a family that Regulus had left in his traitorous rebellion against the Dark Lord. But he wasn't sure how much Regulus realised of this, and it couldn't hurt to express his sympathies.
He was genuinely disappointed to find his sister-in-law gone, and both Regulus' parents and Naricssa's with whom he had known both socially and personally.
