Ginny wasn't one to usually let her hopes get up too high. She had a history of disappointment in her life and just when she thought things were going well (or well enough), life had a way of dealing a healthy dose of reality. There wasn't a whole lot to get excited or happy over where she came from and she'd gotten a bit used to waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Still, Neville's sudden arrival in the place where finally, finally things seemed to okay, gave even the jaded redhead a glimmer of hope that her luck might be turning around. Even her nightmares had taken a break. Okay, so not a complete hiatus, but she made it almost all the way through the night without waking up. That had to be a good sign, right?
The dinner package had arrived and as usual it was entirely too much for Ginny to eat on her own. Which was just as well, because she wanted an excuse to have Neville over again anyhow and food was as good a reason as any. After writing a note in the journal and finally deciding that even if Ginny and the Nevilles was likely the best name ever for a rock group, it probably still required any knowledge of music and instruments to make it a reality, she waited for her Neville to show up. Okay, so maybe he wasn't hers, but she'd taken to thinking about it like that seeing as there were a few other Nevilles here who weren't hers at all.
She heard the knock at the door just as she was setting plates and things down on the table and called out. "It's open!"
