Gerald, without a doubt, is a good father -- though, he isn't used to the day to day with Thaddeus, anymore, and it was obvious in how easily flustered he got. As a child, Gerald had always been a good student, punctual when turning in his work, studied when a test was coming, at least a chapter or two ahead of the class when a novel was required to be read. He couldn't fathom how his boy managed to turn everything in late and pushed everything to the limit when it came to his teachers and school work. It was quiet frustrating for him.
And so, here they were, on a Sunday afternoon at the public library in Seattle. Thaddeus walked in, ahead of his father and went straight for the encyclopedia section, knowing he would need some of those books. They couldn't use wikipedia or most other internet encyclopedias since they weren't always completely accurate. A project on the American Civil War, what would an Englishman know of this? He sat down at the nearest table to where Thaddeus stood, collecting books -- he was a bright kid, all advance placement classes but he was lazy and now they would both have to pay the consequences for bad work ethic.
His black zip-up hoodie was removed and draped over the back of his wood chair, his fitted pulled off and dropped onto the surface of the table. With a swooping motion his hand came up to stroke over his short buzz cut, dragging back over his head until it reached the nape of his neck where it gave an annoyed scratch. "We gon' seem 'bout those Snoop Dogg tickets, now, Thaddeus. Don't even think you're gonna weasel your way into that," he said to his son as he surveyed the books placed in front of him on the table. The top book was scooped up and opened, skimmed through until he found an what he was looking for. The book detailed the most important battled of the war, he only searched until he landed on Gettysburg -- the bloodiest battle of them all.
