Now, Daniel wasn't always the sort to be emotional or get too invested with things. It just wasn't in his nature. He much preferred to stay aloof and detached; it was just a lot easier, a lot simpler, to deal with things and life that way. Of course, a few people had to worm their way inside and change that completely, but there weren't that many of them. But those that were there? Yeah, they meant the world to him and he'd do anything and everything for them. So to have one of them hurting? Yeah, that killed him a little.
Not that he'd ever admit this, mind you. The joys of being a guy, right?
But for a guy, he certainly knew when to step in and when he was supposed to actually get involved -- even if he had no idea what exactly he was supposed to say or do. But being there was enough, wasn't it? The thought that counts and all of that. Besides, he'd never been involved in a situation quite like this. Drama? Relationships not coming TOGETHER? Sure. He'd been there, done that, a million and one times before. Just another part of his life, that was. Or... his friends while he stood by and tried to make sense of the madness. Ugh. But this time? This time someone he cared about even more than most people was hurting beyond reason and he couldn't do much about it.
His hands were slipped into his pockets as he slowly made his way to her front door, knocking lightly a few times. She hadn't answered her phone earlier and so he decided to visit and... no answer. His brow furrowed as he frowned and shrugged his shoulders a little, making his way down the steps. He paused a moment, turning and heading towards the back, his head tilted to the side a bit. It didn't hurt to look, right? And lo and behold -- there was a figure curled up in a blanket. A sigh escaped his lips as he slowly approached. "... hey," he said quietly as he looked at her, shifting awkwardly. "I was hoping I'd find you out here."
