Autumn nodded her head, figuring he was right. There was no way they would have let him out of the hospital should he run the risk of getting hurt. "And you wonder why I worry about you." She looked up at him, giving him a soft smile. It's not that she didn't think that he couldn't handle himself. She knew he could. But you never know when things could go wrong, like they apparently did to cause this.
She kept one hand at his hip, and the other grazed up his chest (on the side of it that didn't have gauze) to go around his neck. "I..." No, no no no. She wasn't going to say that. She told herself she wouldn't, and she was sure as hell going to try not to. He knew. Yes, she didn't get to say it very often. She could only count the number of times on two hands, but... she was just getting discouraged with not hearing it back, and rather than do that to herself, because she was sure as hell not going to pressure him, she was just not going to say it.
Instead, in an effort to stop herself, she raised up to brush her lips against his in a very soft, brief kiss.
