Tamsyn had no idea what to even think anymore. She couldn't think of a valid reason as to why she didn't want to marry Guy besides the fact that she just couldn't do it. It wasn't for her. She was afraid of it. Everything she'd tried to make herself feel better about it failed, and everyone she talked to told her she was a fool. Besides Lucas. He'd just given her beer, which seemed to be his own remedy for his own troubles. Not that that was a bad thing, because it gave her a little bit of a chance to relax. And then Anna, who understood why she said no, but thinks she still could have said yes, but have the wedding be... a long ways off. That was good to hear, because at least there was one person who was making some sense out of the whole thing.
She found herself driving to their house that night because she needed more of her clothes. She knew it was cowardly to try and avoid him, which is what she'd admittedly been doing, but she told herself that, should he be there, she was going to talk to him. She had to know what the hell he was thinking, and she knew he had to be in bad shape. She just wanted to try to explain herself, and see if there was any part of their relationship that she could salvage.
Sure enough, when she pulled down the road, once she got to where she could see it, there was his car, and there were some lights on inside. He was there. Taking a deep breath, she said to herself, "Here goes nothing." She was going to try her hardest not to blame him if he didn't want to see her anymore, and she kept telling herself that as she parked, hoping that would make any rejection that happened easier.
She opened the door and slipped in the house, not wanting to really alert him to her presence in case he'd just turn and walk out the back door. He wasn't in the living room, or the hallway, and then she heard a clank from the kitchen. She clutched her purse tighter to her as she made her way in there, leaning on the archway. When he didn't look up, she finally spoke up. "Hey."
